Special Olympics

 

Members of the CSC having been supporting the Special Olympics for 27 years as volunteers. We are Ski Partners and Course Workers for the 300+ Athletes each season. It's a great experience for our Ski Club Members. Once you have done it you will look forward to it every year!

 

Many of these Athletes have never been on skis before, to teach them in three sessions to negotiate a slalom course and see them win a medal - well you can't imagine what a great feeling that is for the Athlete and everyone involved.

2012 Special Olympics are held at Perfect North Slopes, Lawrenceburg, IN. All events are listed below. Watch for more dates to be added for the Indiana State Winter Games.

To sign you up, I need your full address and phone numbers. Also, please indicate your ski level - expert or intermediate skier and whether you have previous experience as a ski partner.

One day Hamilton County Ski Day, time: 9:30am-2:30pm.
Non skiers can help on bunny hill.

Thursday, January 12, 2012
One day practice Ski Area 7 Northern Kentucky Group, time: 9:00am-4:00pm+
Non skiers can help on bunny hill.

Sunday, January 22, 2012
KY State Winter Games Free Ski, time: 2:00pm-5:00pm
Passholders only (or buy your own ticket).
Then stay and possibly help ski the flags down for opening ceremonies at 6:00pm.

KY State Winter Games Time Trials, time: 9:00am-4:30pm
Volunteer party 5:00pm-6:30pm

Tuesday, January 24, 2012
KY State Winter Games Events and Medals, time: 9:00am-4:30pm

Also, these are all skiing events so we can't use snowboarders as ski partners.
We are always short of help on the weekdays. Ski Partners must be at least 16 years old and should be intermediate or better skiers able to give encouragement and direction to the Athletes. There has never been a better reason to take a few days off work to go skiing! All events are at Perfect North Slopes - East Lodge.

We are always shorthanded on the weekdays. Please do what you can to get a day or two off work. Please try not to do it at the last minute.
